METSEC named in Sunday Times Green List
 Metsec,
one of Europe’s leading specialist engineering companies, has been
recognised by The Sunday Times as one of the UK’s Top 50 Best Green
Companies in its inaugural ranking of the countries best performing
businesses. Metsec achieved an impressive 21st place overall on a
national scale and came fourth within the Midlands region where they
were the highest placed manufacturer in their class.
The Sunday Times 50 Best Green Companies is a definitive guide to
the businesses with the most radically improved environmental
performances. Uniquely, the survey also takes into account the views
of employees – who get to rate their organisation’s green
credentials.
As the UK’s leading producer of cold rolled steel and a supplier to
flagship buildings such as the 02 complex in London, judges
recognised that Metsec not only has policies on ethical trading and
how to manage energy and fuel usage – but that it also has the staff
on board to make it happen.
The national newspaper’s employee survey found that staff are aware
of Metsec’s green policy, understand the eco-implications of the
work they do and feel that the business is doing everything it can
to minimise its impact on the environment.
Committed to reducing its gas and electricity usage and increasing
the amount of waste to recycling – including metals, card, paper,
oil drums, toner cartridges, computer equipment and fluorescent
tubes – almost all employees knowing where to put waste items for
this process to take place.
