Gleeds NHS success recognised at Public Private Finance Awards
 Gleeds,
the International Management and Construction Consultancy, has been
given a top award for providing project, programme and cost
management services for the NHS National Decontamination Programme
Team, awarded Best Public Sector Project Team at this year’s Public
Private Finance Awards.
Working as part of the delivery team in the largest project of its
type ever undertaken by the NHS, Gleeds has been recognised for
their work providing programme and project management expertise in
producing an ambitious, competitive and sustainable service model
which aims to improve the quality and safety of sterile services to
the NHS. All part of the government’s aim to eradicate healthcare
associated infection from the health system.
When complete, the programme will reflect an investment of
£250million capital and £1.5billion revenue in enhanced
decontamination services provided to a variety of users of surgical
instrumentation throughout England. A major part of Gleeds’ role is
managing the delivery of a series of state-of-the-art
decontamination ‘supercentres’ to replace existing sterilisation
facilities at local hospitals through a ‘next generation’ PPP
project. Financial close has been reached on three projects during
2006 and 2007, and five more are expected to reach close in 2008.
Further projects are currently in the early stages of the
procurement process.
The Public Private Finance Awards recognise and reward projects and
teams that make a real difference on a local and national level, and
transform public service delivery in the UK and Europe. The awards
were attended by 1200 key industry figures and were judged by a
panel of some of the most respected and experienced professionals,
led by Tim Byles, Chief Executive of Partnerships for Schools.
