Marshall-Tufflex - MT32 – your fast, flexible friend
(50% costs savings. 80% quicker. 100% satisfaction)
Faster,
easier and more cost-effective – that’s the promise from Marshall-Tufflex
for the MT32 Power Connection System.
It’s rare that a genuinely innovative new product hits the market –
but that is just what Marshall-Tufflex has achieved with MT32.
The 32 amp power connection system delivers tool-free, fast-track
installation of complete cabling runs, from power source to final
outlet, allowing contractors to complete jobs up to 80% faster.
The thinking behind the product is simple. Before MT32, electrical
contractors had little choice but to manually hard wire floor boxes
or sockets within trunking. Each of these could take up to 20
minutes to complete – a huge amount of time if a large number were
going into, for example, a call centre.
It was also laborious, repetitive work that needed to be carried out
by qualified professionals, tying skilled workers up for lengthy
periods of time.
MT32 sweeps these problems aside by delivering a system that allows
electrical contractors to connect final outlets in about five
minutes (skilled operators may even achieve it in under three
minutes). So, for each final accessory or floor box wired manually,
contractors may now be able to install four or more in the same time
by using MT32.
The 32 amp product has been developed by British manufacturer
Marshall-Tufflex in conjunction with Tyco Electronics and, for the
first time, offers contractors and specifiers a real alternative to
more traditional methods of installation.
MT32 is ideally suited for all manner of new-build and refurbishment
schemes, from schools to offices, hospitals and healthcare
facilities to call centres and even exhibition space, boats and
mobile homes. It is available in three versions:
A flexible cabling system. This takes power cabling through trunking
to a plug and play connection in pre-wired, pre-tested accessory
boxes. The three or four pole male and female mechanically keyed
connectors click together and cannot be installed incorrectly.
An underfloor system. Floor boxes are supplied pre-wired and
pre-tested with male and female connectors. Power can be fed from
the distribution unit or powertrack via flexible leads available in
a variety of lengths. This system is particularly suited to
irregular lay-outs and the supply feed can be daisy chained to
additional boxes.
A dry-lining system. This takes cabling to fast-fit, pre-wired,
pre-tested boxes in hollow walls.
One client is using MT32, together with Sterling Compact trunking,
in the place of busbars for a shop fit out. If, in future, the
position of sockets needs changing, it’s a simple task to remove the
trunking lid, disconnect the accessory box and re-configure MT32 as
required. For this client, whose shops are kitted out with large
amounts of technical equipment, this ability to quickly and simply
shift power sockets around is reason enough to specify MT32, not
even taking into account its time/cost savings and safety features.
The same customer is also expanding its network of retail premises
in the UK and wanted a power connection system that perfectly suited
the drive towards modular build – each of its stores follows the
same template for branding and design, so selecting MT32 matched
perfectly its ethos to develop sites to a proven formula.
And not only is MT32 a dream product in terms of faster fit outs, it
has been developed to offer users error-free installation thanks to
the mechanically keyed ‘plug and play’ connectors that cannot be
clicked together incorrectly. This also guarantees consistent
connection and guaranteed polarity. What’s more, this connection
method allows the system to be re-used or re-configured at a later
date, making MT32 completely suited to environments where layouts
may need reconfiguring, or for temporary applications.
An MT spokesman said: “MT32 is a safe, fast-track system that
demands less site time yet delivers higher integrity systems at a
lower cost. It removes the margin for error, and the sheer speed at
which the system can be installed makes deadlines more achievable
and offers significant time and cost savings to contractors,
allowing installer resources to be moved onto other work. MT32 puts
an end to on-site cabling and preparation, delivering safe,
error-free connections that make circuit-testing a formality.
“Until now, the market had not seen a 32 amp plug and play system
that was able to incorporate a connector small enough to be used in
a practical way. MT32 changes all that,” he added.
“The MT32 Power Connection System lends itself to all regular
commercial projects, off-site modular building, POD building,
exhibition construction and many other applications. It is, quite
simply, a revolutionary prospect for an electrical industry looking
at ways to meet the shortages of skilled labour, spiralling costs
and increased safety standards.”
MT32 utilises a compact in-line connector to deliver on its
promises. All installers need to do is click it together, circuit
test and sign-off.
Boxes and connectors are all pre-wired and pre-tested at the
factory, and extension cables are colour-coded to differentiate
wiring options for power, lighting and other uses. They are also
available in different lengths, allowing MT32 to be tailored to meet
the needs of any contract.
Because MT32 negates the need to carry out manual wiring on-site, it
also addresses the issues of skilled labour shortages and increased
labour costs. And, when specified with an underfloor distribution
system, MT32 can deliver greater design flexibility than existing
powertrack options, allowing a larger floor area to be accommodated
from the MT32 distribution unit – Marshall-Tufflex believes it can
increase floor area covered by up to three times.
The 32 amp system is compatible with Marshall-Tufflex’s
three-compartment trunking system, Odyssey, which has broken the
mould of cable management systems by offering an all- curved
profile, delivering a futuristic look that is easy to clean. In
addition, MT32 is suitable for use with Marshall-Tufflex’s
established Sterling trunking.
MT32 really is a dream product, allowing contractors to complete
jobs up to 80% faster, with overall cost savings of up to 50%
achievable. It’s safe, with all testing done in the factory,
virtually impossible to install incorrectly and can be re-configured
if the need arises. Almost any wiring system can be adapted to
interact with the system, and it requires no tools to connect or
terminate cables. 50% costs savings, 80% quicker, 100% satisfaction!
