Johnstone's - Launches Revolutionary New Self Cleaning Masonry

paint specialist Johnstone’s has become the first manufacturer to
bring advanced nanotechnology to the UK market following the launch
of its revolutionary Self-Cleaning Masonry Paint. Providing
specifiers and architects with a 15 year guarantee, the new exterior
coating has been specifically developed to keep exteriors looking
cleaner for longer and to resist the dulling effects of pollution,
weathering and time.
The new exterior coating from Johnstone’s provides a cost-effective
alternative to the repeated cleaning and painting of buildings.
Significantly reducing maintenance requirements, the paint’s
self-cleaning properties ensure that after one application, the
building exterior retains its aesthetic appeal for longer without
the need to be repainted or refreshed.
Johnstone’s Stormshield Self-Cleaning Masonry Paint features
microscopic nano particles, which at one billionth of a metre are
invisible to the human eye. It is these tiny particles that adhere
to the surface, transforming the normal crater landscape into an
extremely smooth finish that dust and dirt simply can’t stick to.
As well as utilising the very latest technology, the nanometric
painting system also harnesses a more natural force – rain. Whereas
most standard masonry products repel water, Johnstone’s Stormshield
Self Cleaning Masonry Paint works in the opposite way as it actually
attracts water to its surface. Any dirt particles that may be
present will therefore be simply washed away by the rain to leave a
streak-free finish.
Suitable for application on a variety of substrates including cement
rendering, rough cast, brick and concrete, Johnstone’s Stormshield
Self-Cleaning Masonry Paint has undergone stringent anti-carbonation
tests to successfully meet the standards of Class 1 of the EN ISO
7783-2 accreditation. Carbon dioxide is a major contributor to the
decay of concrete structures as it can penetrate the concrete and
damage any steel structure within. The use of anti-carbonation
products such as Johnstone’s new Self Cleaning Masonry coating
provide a protective barrier and are therefore ideally suited for
use on car parks and other buildings in highly populated areas.
Touch-dry in one hour, Johnstone’s Stormshield Self-Cleaning Masonry
Paint can be applied using a brush or roller and as it is
water-based, is fully compliant with the new VOC (Volatile Organic
Compounds) legislation that will come into effect in 2010. As well
as being environmentally responsible the new paint also maintains
its flexibility without chalking.
The perfect ‘anti-ageing’ treatment for any exterior project,
Johnstone’s Stormshield Self-Cleaning Masonry Paint will be
available in a choice of over 6,000 colours through the use of
Johnstone’s innovative 32k tinting machines.
