ISOVER LAUNCHES REVOLUTIONARY DUCTWORK SYSTEM
 A revolutionary ductwork system that replaces the traditional sheet
metal and insulation approach with rigid insulation boards but still
meets all the thermal, fire and acoustic regulations is now
available in the UK through Saint-Gobain Isover.
The Climaver® Plus R system for heating, air conditioning and
ventilation processes is manufactured from high-density glass
mineral wool board faced on both sides with a robust aluminium foil
surface that acts as a vapour barrier. The external surface is also
reinforced with a glass fibre mesh for additional impact resistance
and flexural rigidity.
More efficient and more economical than conventional sheet metal and
insulation systems, Climaver’s fabrication process allows
precision-cut joints to ensure low leakage rates and improved
performance and energy savings in domestic, commercial and
industrial sectors.
Lightweight and faster to install than metal ductwork with
insulation, Climaver is suitable for air speeds up to 18m/s and
pressure up to 800Pa. It is also highly adaptable to on-site changes
in design and layout during a project’s progression.
Class O fire rated, Climaver is also excellent acoustically,
research by NAIMA showing that at 1,000Hz it is approximately 10
times more efficient at reducing noise than metal duct with no
insulation.*
Climaver also compares favourably with sheet metal and insulation
systems when it comes to energy efficiency and air leakage rates. In
c0omparison to a sheet metal duct with no insulation, Climaver Plus
R is approximately four times more energy efficient. The use of
Climaver Plus R therefore equates to massive energy savings.*
The external aluminium foil is patterned with guidelines, providing
a reference for the cutting and construction of pre-insulated
ductwork, and an exclusive male/female edge guarantees an airtight
seal as well as greater strength in the joints. The finished joint
gives continuity in the inner surface and allows for easy cleaning.
More and more specifiers and users are insisting on the use of
insulation materials that not only deliver technical performance but
also come with exceptional green credentials, with the BRE Green
Guide to Specification a common point of reference. In this, Isover
glass wool insulation can achieve an A+ rating. It also boasts zero
ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and zero GWP (Global Warming
Potential). It is manufactured from a combination of silica sand,
the earth’s most abundant naturally occurring mineral, and up to 80%
recycled post-consumer glass from building regeneration projects or
flat glass manufacture that would otherwise go to landfill, making
Isover one of the most environmentally sustainable insulation
products on the market today.
