ESG - Backs Government's realisation the extra seconds count!
 ESG,
one of the leading British manufacturers of designer, fire and
toughened laminated safety glass, has recognised the Government’s
concerns regarding fire safety in the workplace. As a result, the
company has pooled together its knowledge and experience and
produced a range of high quality fire safety glass products.
If a fire breaks out in an office, the usual policy is to get
everyone out as quickly as possible and call the fire brigade.
However, if a fire is discovered in its latter stages and is
considered uncontrollable, a few extra seconds could be the
difference between life and death. One of the best ways to create
those extra seconds is the use of ESG fire safety glass throughout
an office building, containing the fire and giving employees extra
moments to plan an escape.
Government Intervention
All ESG products comply with the recent government Building and Fire
Regulations, which not only address the importance of fire safety,
but also the demand for fire glass within the office workplace and
how fire safety is designed into a building.
Susan Sinden, Commercial Manager of ESG, said: “With greater

measures are met and people’s wellbeing are not put in jeopardy.”
All ESG fire resistant glass has been tested through rigorous,
industry standard testing and complies with current fire regulation
and safety standards.
Fire and Heat Resistance
ESG’s fire resistant glass range consists of three main products.
Firstly, integrity only fire glass, which will remain in place for a
specified amount of time. The heat will pass through but the glass
will remain in place to stop the flames coming through. The glass is
defined as either 30/0 (30 minutes integrity and 0 minutes
insulation) or 60/0.
A more physically robust fire protection shield is ESG’s integrity
and full insulation glass, which offers integrity and full heat
insulation for a period of up to 60 minutes. This is available for a
wide range of approved framing types and can also provide a high
level of sound reduction.
Another part of the fire resistant range is ESG’s offering of
integrity and partial insulation with radiation control. This is a
specialist safety glass with the ability to reduce radiated heat
levels by a measurable amount of time, while providing insulation
for part of this set time.
