Invaluable advice relating to the safety and performance of electrical installations is being provided by BSI Product Services for visitors attending this year’s Grand Designs Show, which is being held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham from 10th – 12th October.
During the show on Friday 10th October, experts from BSI Product Services will be available on the Electricity Safety Council stand in the Design Centre. Among the topics they will be discussing with visitors are the importance of using recognised contractors for electrical installation work, the need for regular inspection of electrical installations, and the requirements of Part P of the Building Regulations.
They will also provide guidance on choosing suitable contractors, and will answer visitors’ questions about the Kitemark Scheme for Electrical Installers, which is operated by BSI Product Services.
“The Kitemark Scheme is of particular relevance for visitors to the Grand Designs Show,” said Bill Allen (I Eng MIET), Scheme Manager, Electrical and Fire Alarm Installations of BSI Product Services, “as it provides them with a straightforward and dependable way of finding electrical contractors who have
not only demonstrated that they consistently carry out work of the highest standard, but also that they back this work with appropriate guarantees and on-going support.”
To join the Kitemark Scheme, electrical installers have to undergo a rigorous evaluation process that includes an assessment of their business methods and their technical expertise, as well as a detailed examination of work that they have carried out on site. Membership of the scheme also confirms that the contractor’s work meets the requirements of all relevant standards and regulations, including the IEE Wiring Regulations and Part P of the Building Regulations.
In addition to providing advice for visitors to the show who are intending to use the services of electrical installers, BSI Product Services will also be happy to discuss its Kitemark Scheme, and the important business benefits it provides, with electrical contractors who are attending the show.
