Now there is instant access to DHF codes and guides for door specifiers

Specifiers and end users of industrial and commercial doors and shutters can now tap into a vast library of door and shutter specification guides and other vital information sources with ease.

This follows a revamp of the Door & Hardware Federation's website (www.dhfonline.org.uk) which now incorporates a fast search facility. It is a simple keyword search engine that will help users find the document they need within seconds.

The Zoom search engine is as easy to use as a Google or Yahoo search. The user just types in the key words into the search box and the results are displayed almost immediately.

Said DHF chief executive officer Ian Wood: "The tremendous growth in the number of DHF codes of practice, best practice guides and technical support documents has meant that our 'library' has become a victim of its own success.

"With so much important sources of information available, both DHF members and specifiers have been finding it increasingly difficult to locate the document they need when accessing the DHF website. The new search engine has changed all that.

"The Zoom search engine is a fast and powerful full-text searching engine that users will find really simple to use. If you use Google for general searches then you will find Zoom equally simple to locate the item you need on the DHF website."

Zoom works by indexing the entire DHF website so that any search words put in by the user will reveal every document incorporating those words and then allow the user to go straight to the document of his choice.

"Since making the library of DHF guides and technical documents available on the website, we have been astounded by the huge numbers that have been downloaded - typically around 2,000 documents are downloaded each month by members and specifiers. This number is bound to further increase now that the search engine is in full operation," added Ian.

The incorporation of the Zoom search engine is just one improvement that has been made to the DHF website. More graphics and improved design features have been introduced. And there is a new and simple one click route to information about the DHF Repair and Service Quality Mark scheme.
