A combination of low maintenance heavy duty and safety sheet vinyl floorcoverings and luxury vinyl tiles – from commercial flooring specialist Polyflor Ltd – has been installed throughout the new pathology laboratories at the Royal Oldham Hospital in Lancashire.

Polyflor Mystique PUR heavy duty sheet vinyl flooring is installed in laboratory areas, with Polysafe Vogue Ultra safety flooring fitted in main corridors and timber effect luxury vinyl tiles from the Polyflor Kudos PU collection in the reception area.

Non-directionally patterned Polyflor Mystique PUR is available in 16 decorative shades and features a high quality polyurethane reinforcement which, combined with a superior closed surface finish, facilitates a low cost, polish-free maintenance regime for the lifetime of the flooring, achieving savings of up to 48% compared with untreated vinyl flooring.

The flooring also achieves the highest possible “A” rating under the BRE Green Guide to Specification scheme.

Polysafe Vogue Ultra, in a choice of 12 attractive multi-chip shades, features a surface emboss which hugely improves its cleanability, with the incorporation of coloured quartz, aluminium oxide and silicon carbide particles for improved traction and under foot safety.

As well as meeting the performance requirements of EN13845, the range conforms to HSE guidelines, achieving a sustainable slip resistance value of ≥36 on the RRL Pendulum wet test (using Four-S/Slider 96 rubber) and a surface roughness of Rz ≥ 20µm.

Both Polyflor Mystique PUR and Polysafe Vogue Ultra meet performance requirements of EN649 and, fully tested to fire safety standard EN 13501-1, are certified as Class
Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 ≥ 8kw/m2 and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.

In common with all Polyflor sheet vinyls, both can be welded at the seams and to coved skirtings to create continuous, impervious surfaces.

The Polyflor Kudos PU range of luxury vinyl tiles comprises wood, marble, granite, slate, sandstone, travertine and metallic effects. The product, featuring a specially formulated polyurethane surface treatment which improves the soil resistance and cleanability of the floor, is ideal for heavily trafficked installations such as schools, hospitals, offices, bars and restaurants.
