Scotland’s leading workplace design specialist Space Solutions is celebrating after securing a number of major contracts totalling almost £6m in Aberdeen.

Among the wins are a £2.4m deal to transform drilling services company Stena’s global headquarters in Altens, a further £1m of works for international energy company Marathon Oil in Anderson Drive, and the design, fit-out and relocation for charity Cornerstone Community Care’s new premises on Guild Street.

Steve Judge, Managing Director of the Aberdeen based company that operates UK-wide to design, build, fit-out, refurbish and relocate modern and productive business environments, said the orders, totalling £5.715m in recent months, are particularly impressive considering the economic challenges elsewhere in the country.

He said: “This has been a particularly busy few months for Space Solutions, with business up 50% on the same period last year.

“The services we provide are perfect for businesses reappraising their assets, specifically their premises, whether because of lack of capital or lack of available accommodation.

“We’ve been delighted with the uptake in business in recent months and the signing of these very lucrative and high-profile contracts is testament to the hard work being put in by all of the team. We are looking forward to working with these major clients.”

Founded in 1997, Space Solutions now has five UK offices in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Peterborough. The £12 million-a-year business was recently shortlisted for an Insider Deal and Dealmaker of the Year Award for Management Buyout (MBO) of the year following a 2007 MBO by directors Steve Judge, Kenny Cope, Mark Wilson and Derek Binnie.

Space Solutions applies the science of space planning and workplace analysis to yield significant business savings and achieve most productive use of property for its clients.

And as well as traditional office design work, other recent contract wins in Aberdeen include providing a new laboratory facility for Champion Technologies and helicopter simulator training centres for both Scotia and Bristow Helicopters at Aberdeen Airport.
