As a pioneer in the development of decorative plates for switches and sockets, it was the first UK company to develop the rotary dimmer control for switch plates and the first to introduce dual finishes with concealed fixings.

With the recent shift in fashion trends from ornate brass to plain, understated, monochromatic styles, Hamilton has maintained its edge by producing stunning new finishes which are aimed at the specifier end of the market. At the same time Hamilton has developed its own range of inserts, broadening its scope from box-fit to grid fix and concealed fixing.

Aiming to be a single source for the specifier and interior designer, Hamilton has now based its product development on a ‘family’ theme. This approach enables them to developed new interiors which can be featured on each of the plate designs to maintain design continuity throughout the scheme. Consequently its product portfolio includes the standard box-fix items, along with Hamiltons modular ‘Grid-It’ range of grid fix inserts and the Eurodata telecommunications and data modules range. These ranges can be utilised to create more complex wiring solutions which can include the specific demands of SMART home technology. In areas of high visibility, where design appeal is of up-most importance, Hamilton’s range has included its patented concealed fixing system. This helps to avoid the need to compromise visual appeal for practical application.

All of the plates from Hamilton’s product portfolio can be utilised with Hamilton’s Digital Mercury Lighting Control System to once again maintain design continuity throughout the interior design scheme. This system blends together the various channels of light to create atmosphere and ambience.

Being extremely compact and user friendly, it is very easy for the layman to understand and programme, as it does not require software knowledge to change the lighting scenes. With the ability to create up to four scenes, using as many channels of light as required, it can be used to control; downlights, wall floods, spotlights, table lights and LED lighting. As each of the lighting channels is tuned into each other, the system is able to create a blend of lighting that works perfectly with ambient lighting to enhance an interior design and create the desired atmosphere.
