STORMSAVER LAUNCHES NEW COMBI-SYSTEM
 The UK’s leading designer and manufacturer of rainwater harvesting
systems has developed a new solution specifically for commercial
buildings with minimal storage space.
Combining aspects of both its pressurised and non pressurised
systems, Stormsaver’s new COMBI-system will reduce installation
costs by simplifying electrical and pipe works, reduce running costs
and at the same time offer a reliable and efficient back-up during
periods of low rainfall without the need for a header tank.
The revolutionary system has just two main components; the storage
tank and a single enclosed COMBI-unit , combining a small
pressurisation unit, system controls, automatic backwashing
filtration and pump booster set. During periods of low rainfall or
high demand the system tops up mains water into the COMBI-unit and
not the underground tank. Fully compliant with the Water Supply
Fittings Regulations (1999) Stormsaver’s COMBI-system will ensure
that mains water cannot be cross contaminated by rainwater.
“Previously clients with limited storage space had to rely on water
pumped directly to point of use,” comments Stormsaver Director
Michael Farnsworth. “Our regular clients know that we do not
recommend topping up mains water into the underground tank. Relying
on direct pumped pressure can be problematic because of the risk of
interruptions to the water supply and damage to pumps if routine
maintenance is not carried out. The new system has all the user
benefits of a system supplied with a header tank in the roof – but
importantly it doesn’t actually need one and the system supplies
water at pressure! The system lessens the strain on pumps, reducing
maintenance requirements and provides a more cost effective and
environmentally friendly solution for architects, builders and end
users working with limited roof or plant room space.”
Stormsaver’s new system will replace the existing direct pressure
system in the commercial product range, with clients utilising the
non-pressurised or COMBI-systems. The direct pressure system will
still be available for smaller commercial builds or domestic
applications where a COMBI–system would not be the most cost
effective solution.

standard pressurised unit,” added Michael. “We expect that, when
possible, clients will specify the new COMBI-system as it features
all the benefits of a pressurised supply without the need for a
large internal header tank. Great news for those maximising the
benefits of harvesting rainwater!
