Leaderflush Shapland’s Plasform® Unique, Plasform® Original and Plasform® Extended Performance doorsets were specified for a major PFI project at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital – one of the UK’s first NHS Foundation Trusts. The project creates a significant addition to the 1960’s District General Hospital with new accommodation that includes a Children’s Centre, Therapy Unit, Day Hospital, Emergency Centre, General and Specialist Outpatients units, as well as Cardiac Testing units. Doorsets constructed to FD30 and FD90 fire resistance, were supplied for these new areas.

The Plasform® concept, which allows laminate and PVC facing options to be postformed around the edges of timber doorsets, is perfectly suited to hospital environments where hygiene is paramount. Its flush surface creates a low maintenance, easy to clean durable finish, which prevents bacterial growth and Healthcare Associated Infections - now the foremost performance requirement in many healthcare applications.

Careview blinds, specially designed to be integrated into the vision panels of Plasform® doors, were also incorporated, providing the perfect solution to patient privacy. Operated by a magnetic control knob that can be removed leaving no accessible working parts, the Careview system comes in both vertical and horizontal operation pleated blinds are as well as fine slatted Venetian blinds. With the Extended Performance range also including x-ray protection, exceptional performance characteristics are not the only advantages of Plasform®. Also chosen for their distinctive visual qualities, blue and white laminate facings were selected from a wide range of decorative laminates and back-printed clear PVC options.
 
All Plasform® products are supplied as fully finished doorsets with door leaf, frame and essential ironmongery forming a single, integrated, factory made assembly. Not only does this meet current industry demands for prefabrication but also ensures that designed, certified performance – particularly fire resistance – is actually achieved on-site.
