Leading architect and historic building consultant, Purcell Miller Tritton, has been appointed to the £13million restoration of Bournemouth’s Grade II Listed Pavilion.

Assisting Whitfield Lockwood Architects, Purcell Miller Tritton will work closely with English Heritage to restore and modernise the Pavilion using modern techniques to re-capture its original 1920s grandeur. Part of the Purcell Miller Tritton role is to ensure the overall infrastructure is improved to greatly enhance the acoustics and comfort of the theatre for audiences, as well as creating a new luxury rooftop spa complete with sea views.

Next door to the Pavilion, a £46 million leisure development, on the site of the Bath Road North Car Park, will include a casino, restaurants, amphitheatre, underground car parking and a distinctive glass interval court.

It is a project in which we can draw upon our considerable knowledge and expertise in the restoration of historic and listed buildings.”

Work is due to commence on site in 2009, with project completion expected in 2010.
