GML CONSTRUCTION BUILDS ON SUCCESS WITH NEW HEADQUARTERS
 Building contractor and developer, GML Construction has relocated
from Horsmonden near Tunbridge Wells to new self-built headquarters
in Coxheath, near Maidstone.
Having searched for suitable premises around the county through
investment promotion agency, Locate in Kent, the company selected
land in Coxheath to build an impressive timber, glass and
steel-framed 8,000 sq ft office overlooking the Weald. GML
Construction now occupies three of the six suites spread over two
storeys. The company continues to recruit locally and has grown by
45% over the last year.
Jason Chaplin, Managing Director at GML Construction, said: “We’ve
been managing building projects throughout the country for the last
twenty years, and when we decided to relocate to new premises, it
was the perfect solution to construct our own headquarters. Orchard
House is a showcase for what we do at GML, encompassing the latest
energy efficient features and green technologies.”
The second half of the building, made up of three suites over two
floors and including an external terrace, totals 3,331 sq ft and is
available to let from a competitive rate of £12 per sq ft. It
benefits from an ideal location, flexible terms, comfort cooling and
heating throughout, excellent broadband coverage and natural light
from a central glass atrium.
Paul Wookey, Chief Executive of Locate in Kent, said: “It’s a
testament to the county that a company managing construction
projects all over the country has committed to the county in this
way. Not only is GML Construction expanding its own operations in
Kent, it is also bringing another quality commercial building to the
market.”
GML Construction is a main contractor which specialises in schemes
across the education, health, housing and commercial sectors. The
company is divided into three business units which encompass main
construction, modular solutions and refurbishment projects. It works
with county councils such as Kent, East Sussex, Surrey, and Essex, a
number of London boroughs and private clients and customers.
Its more recent schemes include the Bewl Water Outdoor Centre and
the straw bale wall constructed Environmental Education Centre at
High Elms Park in Bromley. The latter was the winner of the 2007
Green Guardian award for best ‘Sustainable Building’.
Currently under construction is the Elm Park Library in Romford. The
project, featuring photovoltaics on a grass roof, scooped the
sustainable design and construction building award at the 2008
Havering Business Awards event. It is thought to be the first low
carbon library in London and will be Havering's greenest building.
In addition to providing the highest levels of quality assurance,
project management and construction standards, GML is accredited by
Constructionline, EXOR, and CHAS and are members of TRADA and AECB.
