HALTON HOUSING TRUST PROVES PROGRESSIVE WITH AICO SMOKE AND CO
ALARMS
Aico Ei166 RC optical and Ei161 RC ionisation alarms are being used
in Halton Housing Trust properties, with a minimum of one Carbon
Monoxide (CO) alarm per property fitted in the room where the gas
appliance is located, which is generally the lounge; an additional
alarm is fitted in rooms that have boilers. The mains supply is
taken direct from the ceiling lighting circuit to ensure the alarms
are active at all times.
Aico's best selling Ei160 range of mains powered smoke alarms and
Ei261 CO alarms have been specified by Halton Housing Trust across
all 6,200 of its properties in the Cheshire towns of Widnes and
Runcorn.
For properties that are home to customers with restricted mobility
or where adaptations have been fitted, an enhanced specification has
been made available to feature Aico's RadioLINK technology.
RadioLINK allows for wire free connection between alarms and, in
this case, with a Warden Call System.
Halton Housing Trust's Electrical Officer Brian Hewitt was
responsible for the specification and was very keen to include CO
alarms within it. He said: "Although there is no Government standard
or requirement for CO alarms, the Trust is very alive to the dangers
posed by Carbon Monoxide poisoning. We have included one or two CO
alarms in each property as part of our investment programme and to
ensure we are ahead of the game in terms of best practise."
Halton Housing Trust will be installing the smoke and CO alarms as
and when repairs are made to bathrooms or kitchens, or properties
require re wiring. So far, 3000 properties are now benefiting from
Aico Ei protection.
All Aico Ei alarms are designed and built in Europe - specifically
to meet UK standards and regulations.
