Ibstock will be exhibiting its range of highly sustainable brick solutions on Bill Dunster’s Zedfactory LandARK stand at ECOBUILD 2009 in March, reinforcing brick’s position as one of the most sustainable 21st century building materials.

Zedfactory’s LandARK project is an innovative self-sufficient building design, which is suitable for affordable housing, office space and holiday homes.

Ibstock, one of six companies on the LandARK stand, will be showcasing CoolVault, an innovative fired clay insulating floor/ceiling block, which is based on French farmhouse style terracotta blocks and offers all the inherent benefits of natural clay.

Designed to be placed between concrete or timber beams, CoolVault offers excellent acoustic insulation and thermal mass, which is particularly beneficial for maintaining a comfortable interior environment in lightweight structures.

It was developed with Zedfactory as a high sustainability alternative for standard UK floor construction and produces an attractive self-coloured finish for ceilings, making it particularly compatible with timber frame house systems.

Ready finished to include wiring ducts, installing CoolVault is a simple, one-man-job and requires no heavy lifting plant.

In addition to its on stand presence, Ibstock is conducting a series on seminars at Ecobuild centred around ThermoPlan, a highly sustainable, structural fired clay block, now manufactured by Ibstock.

Marketed by and distributed through Natural Building Technologies, ThermoPlan blocks, already feature 30% less embodied carbon than standard UK-made concrete block systems, and will benefit further from the reduced transportation that UK manufacture will deliver.
